time difference....
Sooooooooooo apparently I don't know how to use the Internet and GDL is only 1 hour behind Eastern Time (aka its Central Time). Now you know.
packing... 10 more days!
Heyyyy! I just wanted to post something before I sent out the web address and you all thought I was crazy for sending a blank site. I'm just sitting at home, making mental packing lists and running errands for the big trip.
I have almost everything I need except the webcam/microphone so I can use Skype (if you know how to use Skype/have it, let me know!) I had to get all my travel shots, etc. By the way, NEVER GET MALARIA. The rx I got for Chloroquine is only once a week for 14 weeks. But should one actually contract the disease, you have to take it multiple times a day. Suffice it to say, the pill tastes what I would imagine battery acid and earwax would taste like mixed together. Even with ample water, I nearly puked getting it down.
Okay enough about my medical history.... I am getting ready to go (10 days!) and am very nervous/excited/scared. I depart DC June 1 bright and early and after about 5.5 hours in the air and a layover in Houston, I shall arrive in Guadalajara (2:45pm local time). From what I've found GDL is 2 hours behind Eastern Time (aka VA). I am not sure of the Internet situation I'll have once down there, but I will do my best to get on here 1-2 times a week. I've researched the city and it seems pretty modern (subway system, Walmarts, huge American-style malls) and I don't think I'll have trouble finding some Internet, at least at Internet Cafes.
So that is all for now... I am going to go pack/not. I will post an update as soon as I am down there with news of my first hours in the city!
